Cleanse your LIVER
We know many ways to detox and cleanse. Herbs, juices, vacations, get rid of it, give it away, hire a cleaner, and on…
I prefer the inner cleanse with no cost. I am thinking about the healing sounds that have come down the lineage of the Taoists. As we cleanse the liver, it cleanses aggressive tendencies such as anger. The more we practice, the more kindness, generosity and forgiveness will become part of our self-expression.
I love these exercises, part breathing and part stretching because they join the body, mind, emotions, and spirit – as one – for our Radical Self Care.
- Sit or stand comfortably and breathe. Feel your breath in your body.
- See or feel your liver (under your ribs on the right). Go inside.
- Connect deeply with your liver, with your feelings, and with who you are. Smile on your liver; smile an inner smile.
- Float your arms over your head and continue to focus and see/feel your liver (on the right side of your body).
- Inhale. Interlace your fingers and rotate your palms to face the ceiling. Extend your palms and stretch fingers, palms, arms, shoulders, and the sides of your body.
- Exhale. Lean to your left, stretching the right side even more, feeling your liver under your ribs.
- Inhale. Open your eyes wide and exhale the sound Sh-h-h-h-h—h—h”. Make the sound out loud as you see and feel yourself releasing excess heat and anger from your liver. You might also feel the surrounding tissue and ribs compressing around the liver and supporting your exhale as you let go.
- Complete your exhale, unlock your fingers, press out with your palms and inhale slowly and gently into your liver, lowering your arms. Imagine your breath drawing a beautiful bright green and the expression of kindness into your liver.
- Again, inhale and interlace your fingers, rotate and extend your palms, and stretch, repeating the exercise (#5-8) with the sound “Sh-h-h-h-h-h-h” in a whisper.
- One more time, inhale and interlace your fingers, rotate and extend your palms, and stretch, repeating the entire exercise with the sound “Sh-h-h-h-h-h-h” silently, on the inside, speaking directly to your liver.
- Bring you’re arms down into your lap, palms up, relax your shoulders and rest.
- Close your eyes and breath easily, smile on your liver. Become aware of sensations in your body. What are you feeling? Or seeing?
- What energy exchanges do you sense within your body and specifically in your liver?
